A Difference for One

Thousands of starfish washed ashore.

A little girl began throwing them back in the water so they wouldn't die.

"Don't bother, dear," her mother said, "it won't make a difference."

The little girl stopped for a moment and looked at the starfish in her hand.

"It will make a difference to this one"





수천의 불가사리가 해변에 밀려 올라왔다.

어린 소녀 하나가 불가사리가 말라 죽지 않게 하기 위해 다시 바닷가로 던지기 시작했다.

"그러지 말거라 얘야" 소녀의 엄마가 얘기했다. "어차피 크게 달라질 건 없단다."

소녀는 순간 멈추어 서서 소녀의 손에 쥐어져 있는 불가사리를 바라보며 말했다.

"그러나 이 불가사리는 분명 달라질 거예요."
